As the average age of the population continues to advance, the demand for effective treatments for photoaged facial skin will continue to grow. Ablative fractional laser skin resurfacing is a popular and effective treatment for facial rhytids and dyschromias. This chapter highlights preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative pearls; application techniques; safety measures; and the management of potential complications. Included are tables and figures of actual patients to better illustrate and highlight the key concepts in the text. The pearls described in this chapter stem from the accumulation of over 15 years of personal experience using lasers and provide valuable insights for both new and experienced practitioners.
