This publication gives the complete theoretical and experimental results of the first phase of a joint government/industry/university research study on the vibration characteristics of twisted cantilever plates. The study was conducted to generate an experimental data base and to compare many different theoretical methods with each other and with the experimental results. Plates with aspect ratios, thickness ratios, and twist angles representative of current gas turbine engine blading were investigated. The theoretical results were generated by numerous finite element, shell, and beam analysis methods. The experimental results were obtained by precision machining a set of twisted plates and testing them at two laboratories.
