Plasmonic waveguides and metamaterial components at terahertz frequencies
The electromagnetic field around a planar plasmonic waveguide can be used for the study of single metamaterial components such as single or double split ring resonators (SRR). The resonances in the terahertz (THz) frequency range of these devices will be studied with planar waveguides. We have chosen to use planar Goubau-Sommerfeld lines (PGSL) which are Planar Strip Plasmonic Lines because they are well suited for these applications. We have an efficient plasmonic wave launcher. We will study in the first part 90° bendings and then in the second part filters based on periodical corrugation of the central strip. The last part will be dedicated to the study of filters with ring resonators and their highly rejecting properties at THz frequencies. Potential applications, like focusing effects and THz plasmonic metamaterial behaviour, with these structures will also be discussed. ©2009 IEEE.
