Presentation of Case A 67-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of abdominal pain. He had been in excellent health until three months before admission, when there was the gradual onset of intermittent crampy periumbilical pain that was accompanied by anorexia, aggravated by eating and relieved by fasting. A barium-enema examination and two upper gastrointestinal studies, performed at another hospital, were reported to be negative. During the next two months the symptoms increased in severity, with loss of 15 kg in weight.
