Case 26-1976: Spinal-Cord Disorder in a Woman with Carcinoma

Presentation of Case A 64-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of inability to walk. She was well until three weeks previously, when she experienced a “pulling” sensation in the right groin that persisted and was accompanied by urinary frequency and dysuria for several days. One week before admission pain developed in the right calf and increased in severity. During the week before entry she had no bowel movements. Four days before entry she began to have “tightness” around the entire chest, and two days later the right leg felt “heavy.” On the following day weakness of both legs. © 1976, Massachusetts Medical Society.
