There has been significant progress in the technical delivery of radiation therapy in GI cancer. These innovations have included the use of intensity modulated radiation therapy, image guidance radiation therapy, and stereotactic radiation therapy. One of the key goals is judicious use of this technology. This lecture will highlight current efforts as well as future avenues of clinical research in the use of sophisticated radiation delivery in the treatment of GI malignancies. © 2007, American Association of Physicists in Medicine.
