Nonlinear interaction of a flutter induced limit cycle oscillation of a cantilevered wing with a forced gust excitation

Within the framework of a linear mode (physical or theoretical/computational) the dynamic instability (flutter) of the system and the forced response of the system (due to gust excitation, for example) can be considered separately and there is no interaction. However, in this paper an experimental investigation is conducted that shows that indeed a significant interaction can occur between the flutter induced limit cycle oscillation and the forced excitation. This can only be understood in the context of a nonlinear model. The results of an experiment are reported and some preliminary correlations between theory and experiment are made.
