The experience of a loss of control while eating is a hallmark feature of a binge eating episode, and one that has been associated with elevated mental health symptoms, independent of other binge eating parameters such as the quantity of food consumed. This chapter explores this feature in children, with a focus on the phenomenology, developmental manifestations, assessment, and treatment of loss of control eating.
