Taming the blackbody with metamaterials for energy harvesting applications

The metamaterial perfect absorber has been shown across the electromagnetic spectrum. These engineered, near unity, absorbers yield performance flexibility and here we demonstrate their use for energy harvesting devices-in particular for thermophotovoltaics. © 2012 OSA.
