The goal of the physician when evaluating patients with nephrolithiasis should be to provide a simple, financially acceptable work-up which yields information that can be directly applied to directed medical and dietary therapies.(1) Most would agree that stone prevention should be primary goal of treating patients with recurrent nephrolithiasis. Yet, debate continues as to which to patients should undergo metabolic evaluation and to what extent the evaluation should be performed.
