The world’s engineers will play key roles in preparing for and addressing many of the potential problems posed by climate change in the decades ahead. Engineers from every discipline must apply the physical and biological sciences in innovative ways, including the prevention and control of releases of greenhouse gases. This calls for a systems view of matter and energy to inform future decisions, but also being mindful of social, economic, and cultural factors.
