Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a unique form of pulmonary vascular disease. This chapter will provide an overview of current insights into the prevalence and pathophysiology of this disease, review the diagnostic approach to patients suspected of having CTEPH, and provide a state-of-the-art summary of patient management. It is a rapid evolving field, but it is paramount that patients are referred to experienced and specialized centers to attain the ultimate goal of optimal long-term outcomes in a patient-centered intervention.
