A Case Study of Cascade Iatrogenesis

A clinical case study is presented of a typical incident of cascade iatrogenesis, with analysis of care provided to the deteriorating patient during the unfolding events. Using Enhanced Recovery After Surgery protocols and practicing risk anticipation enable nurses to detect early warning signs that may signal decompensation in postoperative patients.
