ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that can cause impairment in a variety of domains across the life span. This chapter reviews the history and prevalence of ADHD as well as known etiological factors. We also discuss diagnosis of and treatment for ADHD, including both pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions, as well as important considerations in these domains for college-age individuals.
