Double-lumen saline-silicone implants have been used to decrease fibrotic capsule formation. Some of these patients are being referred for imaging evaluation complementary to mammography for suspected implant abnormalities. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides tomographic assessment of the entire circumference of the implant, as well as differentiation of the silicone and saline. The MRI appearance of double-lumen breast implants and the additional information gained relative to mammography is described. © 1994.
