Structure and mechanical properties of iPP/sPP/mica blends
The influence of the size of mica and different processing methods on the mechanical properties of isotactic polypropylene (iPP)/syndiotactic polypropylene (sPP)/mica blends was studied. The results show that (1) the yield strength of iPP/sPP/mica blends is improved by mica, and crosslinked sPP has slight influence in the blends; (2) the impact strength of iPP/sPP/mica blends is also improved by mica. The smaller size of mica introduced into blends, the better impact strength of blends is obtained; (3) differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) results show that as the existence of mica the melting temperature and the crystallization temperature of iPP component increase; (4) the results of scanning electron microscope (SEM) show that the mica is located in iPP phase, however, the location of the smaller mica is even.
