Minimally invasive endocrine interventions have the potential to complement and broaden options for thyroid care. Since the initial work in this field, there has been a technological renaissance allowing radial artery access, smaller microcatheter and embolic technologies, and reduced fluoroscopic radiation dose and contrast load. As a result, there is a renewed interest in the endovascular approach to the thyroid, both in the benign domain (goiter, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease) and in the malignant domain (locoregional drug delivery, neoadjuvant microenvironmental priming with radio- and immune-sensitizing embolics). This chapter details anatomic, technical, and clinical fundamentals in the endovascular approach to the thyroid gland.
