Acne is one of the most common skin infections, affecting approximately 85% of people at some point during their lives. The lesions consist of open and closed comedones (blackheads and whiteheads), papules, pustules, cysts, and/or nodules over the face, chest, and/or back. Treatment is geared toward the type of lesions and presence of scarring. © 2011 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
