Rigid ureteroscopy is now a commonly used technique that has enhanced care of the urologic patient by providing an avenue for less invasive therapy of upper urinary tract disorders and has facilitated the diagnosis of these problems. This article reviews the history, current indications, instrumentation, techniques, identification, and management of complications, and includes both established and new applications of rigid ureteroscopy.
