Strategy Development for Chilean Knowledge-based Services Exports
Despite years of economic growth, the Chilean export basket remains heavily dependent on goods, with little diversification into services. This 12-month consulting engagement focused on identifying key sources of competitive advantages in services, determining major constraints to exports and developing a strategy and roadmap to boost services exports in these areas. Using innovative mixed-method GVC approach and drawing on a range of data sources, including the national tax authority and Central Bank Supply-Use tables together with over 100 stakeholder interviews, the project identified significant local expertise in knowledge-based services related to the country's leading natural resources sectors - mining, agriculture, aquaculture and forestry.
