This chapter reviews the indications, limitations, and interpretation of a palmar arch (Allen's) test. It discusses how to prepare the patient and perform the ultrasound from a technician's perspective. It also evaluates the clinical utility of the Allen's test in assessing the patency of the palmar arch prior to harvesting the radial or ulnar artery for procedures.
