Inclusive Teaching Strategies for Promoting Equity in College Classrooms

In 2009, a colleague at the campus teaching and learning center shared a spreadsheet with Kelly about how students were doing in large introductory science courses. Although the data were not identified by faculty, Kelly was one of only two primary instructors of Biology 101. Her eyes darted to that section of the table. Her heart sank as she immediately felt ownership of the data. These kinds of data were rarely seen by instructors at the time, before the sophisticated data analytics tools that more faculty have access to now.
