Functions of blood group antigens

This chapter reviews current knowledge about erythrocyte membrane proteins expressing blood group antigens. Known functions and physiologic roles are also reviewed. Primary attention is paid to two of the most highly expressed and interesting of these proteins: the anion exchanger, bearing Diego blood group antigens, and the Rhproteins.
