Diffusion of water molecules exists widely in all tissue and organs of the body. MRI can measure and characterize the diffusion and perfusion of water molecules in tissue, which can be used to screen and diagnose various diseases and evaluate prognosis. According to different b values and diffusion gradient directions, various diffusion imaging technology of MR water molecules have emerged. MRI based on water molecular diffusion and relative clinical application progresses were reviewed in this article.
