A roadmap for the implementation of 3D-printed organs in healthcare
The technology of 3D printing is emerging as a revolutionary approach for patient care and organ transplantation, advancing personalized medicine and regenerative therapies. It offers rapid production, reduced treatment times, lower costs, improved diagnostics, and enhanced surgical precision, driving health innovation. However, many studies focus on single organ systems, overlooking broader interconnections. This comprehensive review addresses the critical roles of 3D printing in healthcare, emphasizing personalized medicine, surgical precision, and medical training. It explores clinical applications across multiple organ systems, including respiratory, circulatory, digestive, urinary, integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and reproductive systems. Our findings highlight the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration to fully leverage 3D printing's potential in addressing organ shortages and advancing patient-specific treatments.
