Movement-Evoked Pain in Older Adults with Musculoskeletal Conditions: Assessment and Management.

This article reviews the literature on the current state and future directions in movement-evoked pain (MEP) assessment for older adults. We suggest methods to incorporate physical performance measures of MEP into clinical care, and alternatives for situations when physical performance measures are not feasible. This article synthesizes evidence for musculoskeletal rehabilitation therapies for MEP in older adults with musculoskeletal pain, with a primary focus on exercise. We also discuss electrotherapy, in which the evidence is less conclusive.
