Although the overall average annual number of pediatric antibiotic-associated adverse events decreased during 2019-2023, the COVID-19 pandemic affected this outcome. Antibiotic-associated adverse events in 2023 alone were similar to historical numbers, suggesting the need for ongoing outpatient antimicrobial stewardship efforts.
