Loss of muons due to capture (sticking) by the α-particle formed in a muon catalysed D-T fusion process driven by the intermediate nuclear resonant state in 5He( 3 2+) is investigated. Depending on the properties of the resonant doorway state, the muon sticking probability can be somewhat greater or significantly smaller than the value ≲1% obtained under the hypothesis that the nuclear D-T interaction is independent of relative momentum. © 1985.
