Electron-positron scattering matrix in supercritical heavy-ion collisions

The scattering matrix describing the electron-positron excitation during a heavy-ion collision is discussed. It is shown that spontaneous positron emission in the presence of a long nuclear delay time precisely corresponds to the formal resonance condition of Scharf. © 1987.
