A volume holographic pulse shaper that programs the three-dimensional space-time structure of optical fields is described. This system produces images in which each pixel contains an independent and programmable pulse shape. The pulsed images were recorded using a z-cut 1 cm × 1 cm × 1 cm 0.1% iron-doped lithium niobate crystal from Deltronic. The construction of an interferometric cross correlator was key to the detection of the shaped field. Programmable pulsed images are of particular interest to quantum dynamical control.
