Develops a formalism for imposing on superspace Yang-Mills local gauge invariance induced by general coordinate transformations. Shows that the construction of derivatives forces the introduction of a connection which is expected to be a function of all the dynamical fields. Finds that there are solutions to the equations of motion of this theory which permit the definition of a metric for which an inverse does not exist. Shows that they are connected with a spontaneous symmetry breakdown of the vacuum which yields only the Lorentz metric with no restriction on the internal-symmetry group
