OBJECTIVE: This article provides a summary of some of the important articles published during the period 2005-2009 on the topic of imaging findings in head trauma. The intent is to provide the latest information regarding the diagnosis of important abnormalities and new insights into their clinical significance. CONCLUSION: With the growing realization that even mild head injury can lead to various types of neurocognitive deficits, medical imaging of brain injury has assumed even greater importance than previously.
