A case study in the use of closed queuing network models for the design and analysis of an interactive distributed computer system as applicable to a military computer system as applicable to a military command and control system is presented. Such a projected system modeled as four distinct functional processor elements. Two different analysis approaches are discussed and their results compared to an event driven simulation model. In addition, a design approach to ascertain the minimum speed, or service rate, of each of the functional processors is developed with the criteria that the system does not saturate nor does a processor become a bottleneck.
