To correctly describe the macroscopic electrical properties of cardiac tissue it is necessary to recognize its bidomain structure. The first part of this presentation describes the bidomain and its governing mathematical equations. The second part is an application of the cardiac bidomain model to the four-electrode method for the measurement of tissue conductivity.
