Agglutinated deep-sea benthonic foraminifera with tests composed of phillipsite are documented and illustrated from a red clay sequence in a Giant Piston Core from the central North Pacific. Associated with the benthonic foraminifera are phillipsite crystal rosettes and aggregates of phillipsite crystals. The benthonic foraminifera and phillipsite crystals constitute most of the more than 38 micron fraction, but have little effect upon the mean size of the red clay sediments. -Authors
