Use of enteral and parenteral nutrition in acute pancreatitis

The application of nutritional support to patients with acute pancreatitis can help assure optimal patient outcome. Whether parenteral, enteral or a combination of therapies including oral intake is preferred depends upon the severity of the inflammatory process. Support should be initiated early in the clinical course.
