Electron microscopy is still the most widely used method for high resolution imaging of biological materials. Recently, some improvements were added. The acquisition, and processing of digital quantitative elemental images of cells in electron microscopes is being processed by microcomputers. Graphics based microcomputer is used to get filtered x-ray data that is fitted to standards, display data and images on-line and real time. A database keeps track of the image content from multiple regions and a software program was designed which provides off-line processing and analysis.
