The in-situ growth of ultralong single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) arrays on surfaces with controllable location, orientation and length was presented. These structures were produced using produced using CO chemical vapor deposition (CVD) with fast heating of the catalyst. The controllable location, orientation and length of the SWNT together with the capability of generating large-scale, multidimensional crossed networks with different architectures represented real progress in the controlled production of aligned SWNTs.
