Biased estimators with mean square error surpassing that described by the Cramer-Rao lower bound are implemented using Bayes' Theorem. In order to use Bayes' Theorem a new likelihood function was developed specifically for the ultrasound time-delay estimation problem. Results are shown for bulk, step, compression, and ARFI displacements. © 2011 IEEE.
