Adaptive imaging using an 8×128 array is analyzed. The array consists of switches in the handle that enables any combination of 8 rows to be selected for transmit and a different set of rows is selected for receive. The elevation aperture is changed for each transmit and each receive and is defined by these switches. The array improves elevation focusing, provides more effective phase aberration measurement and uses adaptive imaging techniques. It offers advantages of obtaining individual channel data and harmonic imaging capability.
