Loading dynamics of CO2 laser traps

The spatial loading dynamics of a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser trap and the equilibrium number of trapped atoms are described using Fokker-Planck model. The absorption of the magneto-optical trap (MOT) beams in the high density region of the (CO2) laser trap was neglected in the process. The ground and excited state polarizabilitiies were assumed to be identical to keep the force on the atoms unchanged in the MOT laser beams. The equilibrium number of atoms and the time to reach equilibrium obtained in the experiment were found to be similar with the theoritical data.
