Two-dimensional ((S)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamineH)2Pb4Cl10·2DMF (1) and ((R)-1-(1-naphthyl)ethylamineH)2Pb4Cl10·2DMF (2) have been synthesized using the corresponding homochiral organic cations. The lead atoms within the structure adopt a variety of coordination geometries, with Pb(II)Cl6 adopting a distorted pentagonal pyramid geometry and exhibiting stereochemically active lone-pair electrons, instead of a more typical octahedral geometry with less stereochemical activity.
