Research Interests
I am an applied linguist and engage primarily in qualitative research. My current research interests include language policy and practices in the internationalization of higher education, particularly at transnational higher education institutions with an English medium of instruction (EMI). I am also interested in translanguaging and translingual practice as a way to conceptualize language, and how this conceptualization can help identify power structures, inequities, and limitations in language policies and pedagogical practices.
An additional project I am currently involved in is related to academic writing and language learning at an EMI transnational university. This ongoing project is investigating faculty beliefs and practices regarding the development of academic writing skills in first-year courses. I am collaborating with several colleagues on the first phase of this project.
