Overview
I have been working at DUSON since 2013 as a Clinical Nurse Educator primarily for Maternal-Child Health. I also supported other courses in 1st and 4th semesters. I have been the faculty advisor for the Trans, Femme, and Woman's Health student organization. I sing in the Nightingales Acapella singing group.
During these years I have taught nursing students Birth Doula training. Most of the students will not go on to seek certification and practice as a doula but they all appreciate having the birth knowledge before they enter the Maternity/Peds clinical rotations in 2nd semester. I've added an additional course When Survivors Give Birth that focuses on stress and its relationship to illness. It also includes the impact of stress on pregnancy, labor, birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum.
In June, I retired, and was offered a non-regular-rank status so I could continue teaching students in the CND, 1st semester courses, and Maternal-Child when needed. I also continue to teach my virtual courses through Sakai.
