Research Interests

My research goal is to develop risk stratification tools based on a cluster of demographic, clinical, and genomic risk factors which could better discern between people who would, and would not, benefit from intensive CRC screening and surveillance.

Selected Grants

Post-colonoscopy Risk Stratification Based on Germline and Somatic Genetic Factors

ResearchPrincipal Investigator · Awarded by American Gastroenterological Association · 2021 - 2025

Cologuard Impact in Clinical Practice: A Real-world Evidence Survey

ResearchPrincipal Investigator · Awarded by Exact Sciences Corporation · 2020 - 2024

Fellowships, Gifts, and Supported Research

CRC Genetic Risk Prediction in the Million Veteran Program · September 2024 - July 2029 Awarded by: Veterans Affairs Office of Research and Development . This CDA proposal seeks to build an accurate database of Veterans who developed CRC and advanced precancerous lesions, link this database to the Million Veteran Program to expand genetic discovery across diverse populations, and create an equitable tool for personalized assessments of CRC risk. More precise CRC risk stratification will improve CRC prevention by better targeting colonoscopy resources to the individuals at increased risk for CRC, while reducing the costs and harms of invasive screening and follow up in those at low risk.
