Research Interests
I am interested in common mechanisms of neurodegeneration. I use the retina as a clinical and scientific window in which to study neurodegeneration with a focus on the role of microglia in geographic atrophy ("Dry" age-related macular degeneration). I use a combination of induced pluripotent stem cell models, bioinformatics, AI-driven protein interaction modeling, CRISPR-based functional genomic screening and histological analyses of human pathological specimens.
