Advising & Mentoring


Dr. Young mentors undergraduate, graduate, and professional students through independent studies, Bass Connections teams, clinical research projects, and manuscript development. His mentees are actively involved in neuromodulation, addiction research, neuroimaging, and artificial intelligence–enabled evidence synthesis, with opportunities to participate in clinical trials, data analysis, and scholarly dissemination. He has advised students pursuing careers in medicine, psychology, neuroscience, engineering, and data science, many of whom have contributed to peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

Dr. Young is committed to providing structured, individualized mentorship focused on research skills, scientific writing, career development, and ethical clinical practice. He is available to mentor additional students interested in noninvasive brain stimulation, substance use disorders, neurotechnology, translational neuroscience, and interdisciplinary health research, and welcomes inquiries from motivated trainees seeking hands-on, publication-oriented research experiences.
