Bass Connections Team Leader - Noninvasive Neuromodulation for Addiction · 2023 Projects & Field Work flag North Carolina As a Bass Connections Team Leader for Noninvasive Neuromodulation for Addiction, Dr. Young leads an interdisciplinary research team examining the clinical, neurobiological, and translational applications of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and related neuromodulation technologies for substance use disorders. The team integrates psychiatry, neuroscience, engineering, biostatistics, and data science to conduct clinical trials, analyze neuroimaging and behavioral data, and develop evidence-based treatment strategies for nicotine and other substance use disorders, with a particular focus on veteran and high-risk populations. Through hands-on involvement in clinical research, artificial intelligence–enabled evidence synthesis, and scholarly dissemination, the team provides students with advanced training in neuromodulation, addiction science, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The program emphasizes ethical, scalable, and clinically actionable innovation, preparing trainees to contribute to the next generation of technology-enabled addiction treatment and research.
