Overview
Martha Nelson serves as a medical instructor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. She is coordinator of the pediatric unit at the Duke Physician Assistant Program, and provides instruction in a variety of settings across the curriculum including lecture, small group facilitation and multi-media module development. After graduating from the Duke PA program in 2002, she practiced clinically in a rural pediatric primary care clinic in Henderson, NC for five years. She continues to provide clinical care two days a week at the Childhood Obesity Clinic within the Department of Pediatrics. She is committed to increasing PA participation in the delivery of pediatric healthcare. Her areas of clinical and educational interest include Motivational Interviewing, active learning, resiliency, health disparities, and chronic disease prevention and management.
