Creator - Shaping Society Through Scholarship and Action · September 24, 2021 - September 25, 2021 Event/Organization Administration , Virtual (Michigan State University) Created and presented an event, which spotlighted Black women who are community-engaged scholars and activists. Invited Black local and university organizations that provide resources, programming, and support. The scholars and organizations participated in panels moderated by graduate student moderators. The event celebrated the contributions of the participants and shed light on the participants’ efforts to enhance Black people’s experiences and, or address local and national racism, oppression, and other issues that impact Black people on a local and national level. A local garden coordinator also served as a panelist and provided information about gardening, food and garden related volunteer opportunities and resources. I wrote the event proposal and coordinated event logistics, including presenting, and proposing event to stakeholders, facilitating meetings with participants, created the event schedule, recruited graduate students to moderate panels and a graduate student to design the event flyers.
